I am analysing data to assess the impact of inducing empathy, emphasising seriousness (IV's), and their interaction; on attitudes to mask-wearing and perception of personal danger (DV's). So I have two DV's with no levels and two IV's with two levels in each group and it is a between-groups design, but I'm really stuck on what statistical test to use for analysis, I'm thinking a MANOVA but would like clarification, thank you.
It sounds to me that you are on the right track. You have two DVs, so MANOVA makes sense. As long as the DV is a scale/continuous measure, which looks like yours is.
Why do you have only two levels in your IV's? And how can you have "no levels" in your DV's? What exactly did you measure?

Is it correct to conclude that you consider your DV measures to yield interval-level, continuous scores? The rest of this reply presumes the answer is "Yes."
Does your research question concern each DV independently, or only what may happen to the set of DV scores (e.g., a simultaneous comparison)?
If the former, ordinary ANOVA would likely work. If the latter, you could use manova or its fraternal twin, discriminant analysis (with 4 groups: each of the 2 x 2 combinations). As well, you could use multivariate regression (3 IVs: IV1, IV2, and interaction of IV1*IV2; 2 DVs).

I performed MANOVA with discriminant analysis in my master's thesis. Combining the two methods together produced great complementary results.
MANOVA works by finding a linear combination of the multiple response variables that maximizes between group differences relative to within group differences, hence maximizing discriminating power between the groups.
An extension of MANOVA is Discriminant Function Analysis, that also called Linear Discriminant analysis, this method allows determining not only which variables are best at discriminating groups, but also which groups are different and which are not.

Gouda as you said you did that analysis for your master's thesis. I have conducted a two-way MANOVA but I'm stuck on how to conduct the discriminant analysis and am really struggling with the write up as I can't seem to find any examples or anything online. Have you got any tips?
