Dear Sir. Concerning your issue about the solvents that used for the preparation of NiO from nickle acetate . Cubic nickel oxide (NiO) nanoparticles with uniform size around 40–50 nm and well dispersion have been synthesized using a mixture of nickel acetate and poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc) as precursor followed by heat treatment at 723 K. The structure, morphology and crystalline phase of the nickel oxide nanocrystals have been investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectrum, UV–visible absorption spectrum and FT-IR. TEM images showed that the nickel oxide nanoparticles have hexagonal structure with uniform size distribution around 40–50 nm. Phase pure, cubic nickel oxide formation was identified from the XRD data. Or can be synthesized by the following procedure: 20 ml of ethylene glycol and 0.1M of nickel acetate solution was stirred for 15 minutes. To that solution alkaline ascorbic acid was added dropwise within a period of 30 min. the molar ratio of NaOH to ascorbic acid was set to be as 1:0.1 mole. After addition of alkaline ascorbic acid to metal salt solution, green colour ppt. of nickel hydroxide was formed. The ppt. was then washed with double distilled water and then with alcohol. The ppt. was then dried at oven at 250oC for 5 hours. I think the following below links may help you in your analysis:

Just use the ethanol with mono ethanolamine, it will compensate 2 methoxy ethanol. I followed this track when I prepared Nio from n acetate tetrahydrate.

The rule of ethanol amine here, to give stability for the solution.
