I have not much experience in bioinformatics and I need to find what are the common genes in several gene expression datasets, in other words, I need to find genes that match in all (or some) of my datasets. I am looking for some kind of tool that give me Venn diagrams with the coincident genes. Any suggestion (free software plese) will be very appreciated.
If you do not have any experience with scripting languages, you can do this pretty simply in excel. If you have your lists of gene IDs (entrez ID, gene symbol, even probe ID if they all use the same array), you can simply use boolean IF formulas to match up one column against another or many others.
e.g.
=AND(IF(MATCH($A1,$B$1:$B$XXX),TRUE,FALSE),IF(MATCH($A1,$C$1:$C$XXX),TRUE,FALSE)))
