Im looking for a software to plot more than 20 circular genomes aligned at the same time. I had experienced with Blast Atlas, but it seems not be avilable anymore.
BRIG, works fine and is easy, the problem is that you have to ensamble your contigs in a single supercontig (chromosome), but the good thing is that you can use medusa web server (http://combo.dbe.unifi.it/medusa/) or CONTIGuator to do it, both use a genome as reference. After you have your superconttigs you can use BRIG !!
I downloaded Blast+ and the BRIG, choose the final destination of the files but I wasnt able to run it. A message: couldnt run blast, please check it it is installed and BRIG's BLAST location is correct" and I couldnt fix it yet....
The correct way is, go to Preferences --> BRIG options and then add the path of blast in BLAST binary folder; I think that is your problem, maybe you are adding the path in the main window (blast option).
maybe it if the permission of blast, I don't know how is it in Windows, but in linux and mac, you have to open the terminal and change the directorio to blast:
cd path/to/blasfolder/ (the path)
and then use chmod
chmod 755 blast (binary file)
after that add the path to BRIG and try again !!!
it do´not matters where the BRIG folder is, if woks fine in any folder !!!
Apart from path settings, this also happens when you have more than one BLAST/BLAST+ installed in your system or if your blast is not properly installed. Remove all and install new. Then try.
Hi! Just here to share that I had the same error while running BRIG - "couldnt run blast, please check if it is installed and BRIG's BLAST location is correct," and I found out that BLAST was not running because a .dll file was missing. So I installed the file, and it ran perfectly after that. The file is VCruntime140_1.
