I am comparing surface textures of different plant species. I will qualitatively determine which one is rougher than the other through microscopy. In order to objectively and quantitatively justify my conclusion I believe I could borrow the software they use in manufacturing industry. Only problem is, I have no computer skills at all, and am new in this area so any suggestions pointing to an easy to use software programme will be welcome. By the way, from where will I get the input data? The SEM?
For texture analysis you can do EBSD and then analyse results according to grain orientations with some software (like HKL). If you did not do EBSD previously it is a bit of art to master sample preparation in order to get good and clear Kikuchi patterns.
