political institution
religious institution
educational Institution
family institution
economic institution
sports institution
From my perspective, I would suggest that no-colonialist practices have, in the Polaynian sense, dis-embedded social and and cultural life of peripheral societies.
I am currently witnessing the reform of the education systems in Latin America - a reform that could be described as neo-colonial (even if the same thing happens in the Global North): the academic culture of writing books instead of articles is devaluated - and if you write articles, they have to appear in indexed, even better, impact-factor-journals - almost all of those are English only, at least in the social sciences. So, research in Spanish, Portuguese or other languages is further marginalized - and ultimately reduced in order to be competitive on an international level.
