I think farming is an example, and transportation, but I'm not an expert in the area!
I am a fan of the theory of dependency - but that is probably too old for your purposes. So, I would go for neo-extractivism as a mixture of colonial mindsets with a change in economic structures that actually affects the live of many - and in some countries (like Ecuador or Bolivia) is tightly connected with an expansion of the state and a reform of -for instance- the education system that is modeled after what the Global North is thought to be (there you've got the eurocentrism).
One of the major areas that have not been assessed to great degree in dependency theory are the extent to which peripheral countries suffer balance of payments constraints, limiting the capacity to engage in deficit spending for social welfare purposes.
