Scale up of fluidized bed catalytic cracking has been a difficult task. Many modern fluidizing processes have have been developed in recent times. For example gasification, carbon dioxide sequestration, pyrolysis, gas-to-conversion etc are in operation. In most cases solid losses can be reduced by applying trains of cyclones. This is a complex process to determine the efficiency of the system. Is there any model that can incorporate all the design variables?
I can recommend a model I used several years ago, it was specifically developed for coal combustion on fluidised beds, but I think you can extract very useful information from it: Rajan, R. and Wen, C., "A comprehensive model for fluidised bed coal combustors", AIChe Journal, 26(4), 642 (1980)
There is no simple model for FB design, I think. The design has to be based on your PDU test and simulation at least.
Try MFIX software. It is free and it can be run using Cygwin under Windows, or natively under Linux. It has some example models for fluidized beds.

Dear Ujile, you can computationally model fluidised bed reactor by using ANSYS DesignModeler software. Furthermore, to simulate you can implement open source software (OpenFOAM-LIGGGHTS solver). Recently this numerical technique is more fundamental and popular approach to tackle different systems (gas-solid, solid-liquid, gas-solid-liquid).
