It is sad, annoying and distressing to hear colleagues of this noble profession engaging in foolish, unhealthy and morally disparaging activities that soils their reputations and rub the beautiful portrait of the profession in the mud. Embezzlement of institution funds, sexual infidelity (with students and so forth), thievery etc.
Please, what should we do to such persons who engage in these foul acts? Kindly, share your views because my heart has already broken with the Science teacher Hunter Day's rape case with her own male minor student fresh in my mind. Thanks in advance.

Teachers should be subject to qualified teacher status and the teaching profession should be regulated - in the UK teachers are regulated by the National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL), which is an executive agency of the Department for Education. The NCTL investigates cases of serious teacher misconduct and decides whether to refer a case to a professional conduct panel which investigates whether there has been serious misconduct and if so, whether a prohibition order should be issued. Serious misconduct is that behaviour which is fundamentally incompatible with being a teacher and could lead to being prohibited from teaching. The primary purpose of a prohibition order is protect pupils, maintain public confidence in the teaching profession and uphold proper standards of conduct. If a prohibition order is made it will apply for life and it means that the person can’t undertake teaching work in any school, sixth form college, children’s home or youth accommodation. When an individual is prohibited, their details will appear on a centrally maintained list identifying all those who are prohibited from teaching and which is available to prospective employers.

Notably, Code of Professional Practice (CPP) plays a vital role for all teachers because teachers hold a special position of trust ,and in their multiple roles, they use powers that have a significant bearing on the lives of learners . As a result, there is a community expectation that these powers will be employed carefully. In point of fact, what teachers know do a considerable influence on the nature of students' achievements. Morally responsible teachers are even more important in a society since they need to ensure that their professional practice of teaching satisfies the standards of moral behavior. Therefore, as you have rightly stated, any deviation from such highly respected standards makes the teacher unworthy of trust .

I heard/read similar stories. Particllularly, post-graduate students report such things as they are grown-ups and they are the most effected. Such teachers should be punished and no mercy should be shown to them. I think there should be a strict law for it and in case of post-graduate students not only their protection should be guaranteed but it should be ordered by court to the University to help them find a new supervisor if their ex-supervisor had sexual interest in student more than the quality of work and their contribution to the literature and society.
My heart doesn't take rest when I read such stories and pity for all those. I even once heard a teacher abused a female student who couldn't even say anything to him nor did she reported it, since her future was dependant on degree. What a pity!
And I wish if the law includes that all degrees of such a teacher should be taken away from them for lifetime as a punishment.
