There is no doubt that the distribution of body components varies according to gender, age, level of fitness, and genetic factors, but in general a healthy body is distributed as follows.
Muscle: Men 40-45% of body weight.1-
Women 30-35% of their body weight.
Athletic endurance and strength:- may reach 50% or more.
Children: less than adults due to continuous growth.
Elderly: less than adults and the decrease is after the age of 30 if physical activity is not practiced, and the decrease is due to the direct relationship of metabolic processes (catabolism and construction).
2- Bones:
Men: 12-15% of body weight.
Women: 10-12% of body weight.
Children: Lowest percentage due to incomplete growth.
Elderly: Decreased bone mass due to loss of minerals (so we notice osteoporosis.
3- Fats:
Men have 10-20% of their body weight (ideally 15%).
Women: 18-28% of body weight (ideally 22%)
Athletic Endurance: 6-12%. (men), 12-18% (women).
Note: Fat is more than 25% in men and 32% in women (classified as obese).
The rest of the ingredients:
Internal organs, water and body fluids: 50-60% of body weight.
Connective tissue and nervous system: 10-15%.
The bottom line:
A healthy man 40-45% muscle, 12-15% bones, 10-20% fat.
Healthy woman 30-35% muscle, 10-12% bones, 18-28% fat. Any difference in the above proportions reflects a state of difference in health and fitness.
