For the purpose of evaluation of peroxide value of Lipids using ferric thiocyanate method, Can any one suggest what should be the best protocol for making standard solution of cumene hydroperoxide (CHP) for measuring the absorbance using UV spectrophotometer? Also in which solvent we can dilute the CHP for getting different concentration of CHP as it is slightly soluble in water?
Dear Sir. Concerning your issue about the preparation of standard solution of cumene hydroperoxide for UV spectrophotometer. The peroxidation of cumene resulting in the formation of cumene hydroperoxide has been carried out by Hock and Lang (Berichte, deutschc chem. Ge's., vol. 77', 1944, page 254)-by reacting molecular oxygen with cumene in the presence of ultraviolet light at a temperature of 85 C. If 80 % (wt/v) of cumene hydroperoxide purchased directly from the supplier was measured to determine both density and concentration, then stored in a 4°C environment. Cumene was used as the dilution solvent in preparing various cumene hydroperoxide samples. I think the following below links may help you in your analysis:

Dear sir, thanks for your reply and suggestion. I am still confused, I have 80% Cumene hydroperoxide solution but it is colorless so if I dilute it with cumene at different ratios then will it produce some color solution so as to measured the abosrbance using UV spectrophotmoeter ? Can you please help me once more in this regard?
