Due to low flow velocities, there are chances of water and deposits separating in the crude oil pipelines with substantial BS&W content which might leads to corrosion in CS pipelines. Is there any literature specifying guidelines for the minimum flow velocities available?

There is no easy answer to your question. The crude oil coming out from the ground varies in properties including water content, CO2, H2S, and so on and all of these affect the flow properties of the oil flowing in the pipeline whether the pipeline has a 10-inch or 50-inch internal diameter. Furthermore, a maximum oil flow in the given pipeline diameter needs a friction reducer, or the crude oil is heated. Usually crude oil flows between 3 to 6 miles per hour and generally in most calculations, the crude oil flow is taken 4 miles or 7 km per hour.
Kuwait Oil Company has a good laboratory and you should carry out some systematic flow tests to determine the flow characteristics of Kuwait crude and other crudes around the world proposing an empirical model on flow.

In oil-water flow patterns, water-wetting is one of the very important in understanding the internal corrosion in the low-carbon steel pipeline, and there is no systematic experimental study has been undertaken especially in hot climatic regions, namely tropic making a challenge for oil corrosion engineers to determine the flow conditions for corrosion of the pipeline. This is an excellent topic for research.
