Journals around the world are now busy checking plagiarism or similarity index. But, the word ‘researcher’ is a common gender, while ‘research’ is a universal subject. All journals now deal with novelty in words, phrases and sentences in the articles. Researchers have to complicate even simple things in order to get rid of the similarity index trap. Isn't the articles losing clarity by doing this? But, why don’t, you are not strengthening or preparing effective citation finder tools? In my opinion, the main purpose of plagiarism should have been dealing with theft of other important issues like- data, figures, pictures and diagrams. Important topics like ‘methodology’ also have to be presented differently in order to avoid complications related to the similarity index. But in the near future, how many ways we will be able to write an established method?
On the other hand, mastering in English and researching are not the same things! Because English linguists and researchers are not one. Looking at reputed journals, it seems that they are looking only articles from the branded researchers, institutions or countries. If they find any any English error in a single sentence from a non-native speaker they immediately suggest to take help from the native English speakers. It seems that the research publications are in the possession of the English speaking nation. Research has been born and spread from those such as - Latin, Greek, Arabic, they have also been stuck in the power of English over time. But is the researcher someone's mistress? Is research something to be controlled by?
Many researchers are afraid to write articles on these issues. Perhaps, they are also losing interest in research day by day. Who will take the responsibility – the English language or the journals ?? I think we the scientists can raise our voices to resolve these hurdles in research.
Simply, to avoid using work that's already been published by the others and to know the novelty of your research project.

Checking for plagiarism is a question of ethics - checking to ensure that the author if not using the work (including the written words) of others without citation. Even when writing about science, writing is a process of creativity. We should not pretend that the creativity of others is our own.
Checking for similarity is also appropriate in today's era of "copying and pasting." Changing a few words in the writing of others and using it as your own is also unethical.
As a native speaker, I have often told the authors of papers I review that "your manuscript would benefit from proofreading by a native speaker who is a qualified academic writer." I am sorry that writing in English is difficult for speakers of other languages because English has such strange grammar and syntax.
But the candid truth is that people will judge a paper, in part, by the excellence of the written English. It is not fair, but it is the truth.
Of course article writing is an art and a matter of experience. However, it is not at all reasonable to suppress researchers and research by this art. There are many good researchers in the world who are not good writers. It is true that research needs to be published and disseminated in a specific language in order to be universal. This is because the English language is international. But it is also true that one language can never be fully or properly expressed in another language. We want the result of every research. So how reasonable is it for researchers to suppress English language skills by trapping them in native non-native language? Researchers should write their research papers without fear, only if they can understand the subject well! Thousands of people can present the same subject in different ways, and thousands of people can present the same subject in the same way too. Even, a person can do the same thing without seeing it. What kind of security do you want as a researcher? Did you know that no one else in the world is doing what you are doing at the moment? As such, even the question of plagiarism is not limited to key issues, such as data, images, figures, diagrams, and so on. To me- the research should not be deprived at all by dragging the subject into a limited number of words or sentences. Moreover, when a researcher does proofreading with an outside English expert, what is the security of his research findings? Can't the journal do this one step further for free? Then, let the journal recruit some of expert or English natives there. If a non-native researcher goes to a native for writing, proofreading his article, then the full credit for his publication will surely not go to that researcher alone!
Yes sir, it is a great problem. For this reason, in every moment, the young researchers or new researchers especially the Bengali researchers are hugely demotivated, even insulted by the reputed journal. The main fault of them is that they aren't native English speakers, and don't belong to the branded institutions or countries. Nowadays, reputed journals are looking only articles from branded researchers. If this strategy is continuing, how a new researcher from the non-branded institution will be a branded researcher.
I totally agree with Professor Torequl Sir. Language should not be the barrier for performing good research at all. Moreover, many researchers do not have A1 level expertise on English language. So I think research article writing should be straightforward & simple. Plagiarism is to be checked but not that dimension what is used to be.
It is usually not checking the individual words as you mention, but sentences or even paragraphs. Good antiplagiarism software shows the simikarities and I am sure no reviewer will thing that a single word us plagiarism.
Dear Mirna, for your kind information, I have mentioned words, phrases---. So far I know iThenticate is an authentic and popular software right now. It also detects only few words (1-3). Then, which one you are going to suggest for us? In fact, I have no problem if anyone use my words, sentences or even paragraphs in his/her papers. I feel honor for that. We need to focus for quality research rather than strong and complex English writing skills. Research should not relate to good English practice. Please develop an SI checking tools which will only focus to detect DATA plagiarism not a few words or even sentences.
I strongly agree with the researchers Nasiruddin and Chandan. My opinion is that if a researcher is used a limited number of words or sentences from another's article directly/exactly in his own article and present his article in an appropriate way, then where is the problem? In fact, he is using the reference(s) from where he is taking those! So what do you say about this - when you, as a researcher, get help from someone else to write and proofread your article in exchange for money or by other means? Is there not enough similarity between these two issues? In fact, it is not just a problem of non-natives now, but natives are also in a lot of trouble. I have worked with a number of English natives till date but they have not been able to provide effective assistance. There is no such reason as a good researcher who has to be proficient in everything! Even we cannot trap research in language and grammar. Basically, where is the problem if the readers or other researchers understand the researcher's publication or language? There is no telling how many hundreds of emerging researchers in the world are losing interest in research due to the plagiarism and English writing skill problems. It seems to me that the main thing now is not to do research but to spread the power of English all over the world in a different way and to win the novel prize through novelty writing skills. Even a researcher may not have the power of speech or the hand of writing! If someone follows someone's good side as if we follow someone's biography, then he might be happy as it is good. Researchers who see the use of phrases or sentences from their articles as plagiarism, to me they are the narrow-minded researchers. We should have open copyright permission on such a serious matter for the sake of research excellence. The word ‘Research’ consists of ‘Re’ and ‘Search’, which also mean de-novo search. As such, it is doubtful how much of a research the novel is. Because what a researcher reported for the first time was also on the earth. You just use the energy differently to give a different look and solve only one or a few problems. But did you know that this will not cause more problems in the future? No researcher should be proud of his research credentials because that too is the gift of the only almighty Allah. So how does a researcher get the point of being proud of his research? After all, research is a rolling stone and we should not interrupt it at all.

Yes, it’s true writing skills and journal’s quality greatly increases the acceptability of a research. But I think we need to focus on the impact of a research. There is no point in trapping researchers in a web of limited words or borrowed sentences. In fact, we borrow or buy a lot of things from different countries or individuals to complete our research activities, such as - chemicals, reagents, machines, equipment ---. So what about them?
In my opinion, the subject of ‘novelty’ does not depend on the wording or sentencing of any article but on the key findings of that research. Researchers who do research or publish very limited will either be able to write their own articles in the form of novel phrases or sentences over time. But how do those who do research on a specific line and do multiple publications a year write the same method used in research over and over again with novel phrases or sentences? How many times will they modify an established method? Wouldn't this approach cause problems with the results of their research? In addition, they will repeat the same topics in writing discussion sections. Because that's how they can be better expressed. In the real sense, many things are not going to be presented well in the context of this plagiarism policy. Because when you write them, the similarity index sits. ‘I am a researcher’. While agreeing with your logic; in order ensure proper dissemination and world-wide availability of knowledge there must be a common language. The world became comfortable using English as such medium. It has many competitive advantage which most of other language does not have. Therefore, the world needs English.
