My query primarily centers upon the use of textbooks in teaching English as foreign language (TEFL) in preparatory schools or schools of foreign language. Please, try to take account of the following questions in your comments, as well.

  • How are textbooks utilized in monolingual classes?
  • What must be the role of these sources in the curriculum?
  • Do you use them as supplementary or major teaching sources in your classrooms?
  • Do you think it is necessary to adapt and modify textbooks to create authentic (original) teaching materials? If so, how?
