Like how we have evolved in terms of getting used to technology with its backlashes , we need to understand religion better and not accept in the name of faith (Sorry) .
I have to mention my religion, we are ever evolving else we know how it effects .
Well how and what it depends on the rule formulators (clerics )
It depends, what positions you rank among "postmodernism". Certain insights of (what I regard as) postmodernism are quite essential for my own work on e.g. the interrelation between religion and science.
Let me give an example: If you take it seriously that we continuously operate with (or: within) different language games that are categorially incompatible, this will provide new ways of relating faith and knowledge, science and religion etc.
Furthermore, I frequently use semiotic approaches to determine the influence of ritual and prayer on the emergence of worldviews and beliefs.
All in all, some postmodern lines of thought are essential for certain aspects of theology, I think.
I think Theology the following roles can be played in the post modernism as religion in as per the following issues for forever :
1. Morality teaching
2.Ethical role play
3.To keep the society in a bond
4.Humanity in the mankind , and
5. Truly existence of love
I understand that Theology can influence Postmodernity; just as Postmodernism has had an effect on theology. Both interact.
Before and now, human beings need to believe in an Almighty God and to that, with all their values, ethical principles and religious convictions, they cling and strengthen in their Faith.
The study of God if it focuses from postmodernity, with historical, archaeological, paleontological and technological advances; it has given rise to a change in the growing disappearance of an anthropomorphic and dogmatic God, to a God as collective and universal consciousness of the duality of matter and energy, creator of all that is visible and invisible; that is to say of the ordered Universe, the Cosmos.
Though we have 'n' number of religions all over the world, philosophically gist of all religions are same. Help/Service others. Maintain harmony/peace among humanity that is more important.
Postmodernism - as used in French philosophy since J.F. Lyotard - is not so much a philosophy, but an attitude, characterized by distrust on the one hand when people present a worldview as the explanation of everything (seen that, been there...). Life is more complex, and 'man' exponentially so. Another characteristic is that once deconstructed the 'big stories' a sensitivity for the those voices can arise, that are hardly audible in the dominant discourse. So of great importance I think for theology...
