Are the two subroutines the reserved FORTRAN subroutines? I mean what are their names? one is clear, UMAT. what is the other?

Can you combine all the UMATs and make just 1 UMAT?

I have two sub UMATs for two materials and used if and else loops. 

IF (CMNAME .EQ. 'MATRIX' THEN

    CALL UMAT_MATRIX (argument_list)

ELSE IF(CMNAME .EQ.'FIBRE' THEN

   CALL UMAT_FIBRE (argument_list)

END IF

and defined the constitutive material models for each material UMAT_MATRIX and UMAT_FIBRE.

This is an internal message and you probably should not be receiving it. If you could provide your model with UMATs I would like to debug them.

I've solved the problem. It turned out that I didn't keep all the argustment_list same, resulting in some input variable being zero in the calculation.

I think you had also problem with excessive distorted elements as well. I have tried all suggested methods but still have problem with this issue. Could you please say how you fixed this problem finally? Best

Hi Mehdi, I think it subjected to different problems. What are you trying to model? It is the case that I modelled material damage in UMAT and met the issue of excessive distorted elements.

Hi again, Actually, I am modelling severe plastic deformation (one kind of material processing, metal forming) using Abaqus/explicit for stress analysis. I have several contact surfaces with general contact definition.  .My specimen at the model tolerate 2GPa hydrostatic pressure and under this condition exposed to torsion  in order of several revolution.  plz say me what you need as well. I've just experienced the same error and took some time to find out how to solve it. In my case, in my UMAT subroutine I was defining a tangent matrix (DDSDDE) with dimensions (6,6), and I was working with plain strain elements, which should have a tangent matrix with dimensions (4,4).

However, what I found more intriguing is that I had been working with the same UMAT applied to elements CPE4, and I got no mistakes with it (the fortran code just disregarded the 5th and 6th rows and columns of the DDSDDE matrix without triggering any error). When I changed my mesh and started working with CPE3 elements, it suddenly happened. And why I got the mistake with CPE3 elements and I didn't with the CPE4 elements, that I can't explain..

Hi Francisco, In order to debug the code, it would be great if you can use write(*,*) to get some output  in order to see the progress of the calculation.  

Hello, guys, I want to share my error-fixing experience.

I have been using UEL and I had this error.

abaqus system error system error 3 std_elemworkspacemanager::deallocate: an offset

It was annoying since I could not see what is happening behind the ABAQUS program and where the bug is. I found that I touched RHS inappropriately. I use my subroutine to initialize RHS but it might had an unknown problem. I want to suggest my steeps for a debugging.

1. Just comment out everything and make blank UEL.

2. Try to uncomment line by line and see when the error takes place.

3. After finding out the place of error, just try the safest way of programming.

Hello everyone. I am not using any of the sub-routines. I am running a normal explicit analysis and I encountered a similar error. Can anyone suggest me what could be done?

hi Sharavan, except the excessive distortion issue of the elements and remove any blank spaces (' ') in the directory suggested by other reserachers, you can try single cpu to run your model in command line.
