Currently I'm doing research on peanut cultivation and fertilization. Could you tell me the pressure required to test the ground compaction of 1.66 gm/cc density of soil?

Ground compaction detection and also to fertilize the soil in accordance with the compaction level of the hardness present in the soil.. for that I've planned pneumatic penetrometer (I've chosen Double Acting Cylinder with its rod end to penetrate). To run the pneumatic penetrometer, the compressor is required.
Can you suggest the type and grade of compressor for forcing the rod end of the double acting cylinder to impinge in the soil having density of 1.66 gm/cc?
The answer depends entirely on the type of soil being used, its stress history and water content. I suggest that you run some compaction tests (e.g. BS1377, AS1289) with different compactive efforts to see how your particular soil behaves. You can then select a suitable water content to achieve the target density, depending on the soil structure you want - although no hard-and-fast rule exists for this, soils compacted below their optimum water content generally have more-open structures, with stronger aggregates, than those compacted at or above their optimum.
My opinion is that the water content is a main factor. You can use the penetrometer if the soil water content is 0.7...0.9 FC (Field Capacity).
