The main source of motivation is the devotion in giving them knowledge and participate them with their knowledge that give them more confidence in their self
Students know that we are working for their development in the world of science and their realization after the university. This is part of my motivational program.
Then build confidence and desire to present me and other professors.
As a student, i was motivated by the desire to be the top of my class, have the best grades and succeed at my academic work, believing that a natural consequence of these would be getting a good job. I believe it is pretty much thesame with my students nowadays.
My motivation was and is to lnk Eastern and Western understanding of consciousness so we can get a more complete picture. this really is about the joining of spirituality and science.
Very interesting as I just posted 3 hrs ago :" There are many factors that lead to a student to become unmotivated in a class setting, but one of the main reasons is when a "teacher" does not understand what he/she "teaches". At that point, the "students" will turn off and stop making any effort to try to understand. #demotivationalteachers #mathteachers #scienceteachers "
while dear Tina Lindhard answered to this topic 16 min ago about joining spirituality and science...so, my answer will be that in a class setting, there is "something" that occur between teacher(s) and student(s) and that is what makes each one successful.
Should I mention that the current approach is far behind in all areas?
Teachers who are specialized in "education" without knowing "math" and "science"?
If a "teacher" did not like math and science such that he/she went in their career to study them, what makes then anyone think that he/she would love teaching such concepts?
I found it as very disturbing to see the results of those teachers who teach the topics that they had no affinity for as students.
That love for learning is something easy and natural rather than complicated/complex/annoying:-)
As a student my motivation was just get good score !!! I was under the impression that I am learning old concepts :(
Only after I became a teacher did I realize they are the fundamental and basic concepts that are very much in need. If we understand those ones then we can progress (a bit late) !!! So , now I started telling my students that they need to get the basics right to understand any other concepts ...
Dear colleagues, thank you for your excellent additions to this discussion: Hazim Al Dilaimy , Aparna Sathya Murthy , Dorina Grossu , Tina Lindhard , M. A. A. Al- Fatlawi .
Somehow it was to satisfy my late uncle's prediction that I would get a PhD. I believed in that and kept studying to further my education.
As far as my students, I try to find nuggets of information about them that has motivated them thus far and capitalize on them to cheer them on to finish higher education.
Hello, teaching a class full of motivated students is enjoyable for teacher and student alike. Some students are self-motivated, with a natural love of learning some are need to be motivated by well motivated teacher.
By exposing students to the underlying benefits of Self Determination Theory (SDT) , teachers can make directed motivational currents flow and enhance the learners' views of the self . Lots of motivational factors and lack of demotivational sources can truly charge and energize the learners for attaining the learning outcomes.
The goal, the internal motivation and the pursuit of achieving the goal to reach the results satisfactory and the same for students are sure to have goals to seek to achieve and have internal motivation to drive them to achieve their goals. Every human being has a goal to achieve
What keeps students motivated is a motivated teacher. If you have a passion for teaching, your students are more likely to show a passion for learning. It also works the other way round: if you don't care about teaching, your students won't care about learning.
What motivated me was the goal I set out to be distinguished among my colleagues. Motivating the diligent student can be done by encouragement in different ways.
Success is the main goal of every student. It motivates all people to ensure getting s secure job in the future. It motivates me and all people to achieve goals we ate looking for.
What motivates me and what motivates my students are the same things: personal interests. Students are like us. We are enthusiastic when working on things we like, need external motivation when working on things to which we are indifferent, and find ways to avoid working on things we dislike. There are several different activities that can be used to learn and develop the same skills. The teacher’s challenge is to identify them and provide options for student (possibly in small groups) to acquire the knowledge and skills to be developed through their preferred activities.
I think that a desire to (1) be better than now and (2) be distintive from others drives me to become a student. I also think that both of them drives students to feel motivated.
Teaching then to be confident is one of the main things one should keep in mind. Positive thoughts will make a student confident in every aspect. It will allow a student to reach his goals quickly.
I learned an interesting fact from some data from Universities in the State of Georgia, United States -- student from rich background were more likely to be motivated by a desire to build their career. The first generation college students were motivated by a desire to make their families proud.
While motivating students can be a difficult task, the rewards are more than worth it. Motivated students are more excited to learn and participate. Simply put: Teaching a class full of motivated students is enjoyable for teacher and student alike. Some students are self-motivated, with a natural love of learning.
