Hey everyone!
We are currently designing an eye-tracking experiment which aims at assessing the effects of complex verbal stimuli (varying emotional valence and intensity) on gaze patterns. I am also measuring physilogical indicators (heart rate, EDA).
Between the emotion inducing stimuli participants will do a short breathing meditation with an emphasis on the outbreath. We do this in order to "neutralize" affect and increase parasympathetic activity as we are concerned with affect "spilling over" between trials.
I know that the parasymphatetic system is slower than the sympathetic but have not found literature on grounds of which I can make an informed decision on the duration of the meditation phase. Do you have any advice/literature for me on that one?
Thanks a lot!
