If you want to erect an operational service for early warning of rice pests and diseases, you will have to identify these pests, to know more about the cause and origin of the pests and diseases. If not, no early warning will be possible. Early warning systems are very often if not always, based on the reproduction cycles of the animals, bacteria or viruses causing a disease or a certain pest. I think that for that purpose it does not hurt to take contact with the IRRI, the International Rice Research Institute

which operate an early warning system for crops based on remote sensing in Africa. Nothin to lose I would say.

Many Thanks Prof Frank. Actually It is very difficult to apply remote sensing for early warning the occurence of pest or disease. Since, we are trying to find out the possible technique for early warning not only using remote sensing but other methods. Otherwise we will consult IRRI or FAO for more detail

I am thinking risk analysis map can be a method to have early warning occurrence or rice pest and disease.
