I'm working on simulating 3D VIV with ANSYS FLUENT. To start with easy point, I made the cylinder static, but Karman Vortex Street just didn't show up. The fluid domain was separated into inner region (finer meshes) and outer region (coarser meshes). And I noticed that the quantities crossing the interface of 2 regions was discontinuous as the pic shows. I tried different combinations of mesh types, but it came out the same.
Does anyone know the answer?
Note that the interface of 2 regions is non-conformal, and Matching was selected in Interface Options panel.

What was the need to divide the solution field into two areas for this problem? You could have a field that has a fine mesh near the cylinder and coarser the mesh as you move further back from it. Of course, make the mesh size smaller up to 0.5 times the diameter of the cylinder up and down the horizontal axis so that you can catch the fluctuations.
you may have put some undesired inflation layers at the interface..
This kind of discontinuities may happen when a split flow dominion is chosen. Try to unify both regions (project geometry) and implement a different mesh method. Hopefully, unifying both bodies will lead to a better simulation.
