Well-versed with the subject matter, availability to answer students' questions, ability to motivate students to think outside the box, approachability and the ability to be flexible with the curriculum are some of the qualities of a lecturer that I prefer
I agree with the points in the attachment added by Dr. Mhsen.
In addition to that, a good lecturer should imbibe the culture of being a good mentor. Nowadays, there are scacity of mentors- good shephards. So that makes it an opportunity for lecturers to distinguish self.
Gets points across to the audience using a style that (1) keeps the audience attentive, (2) awake, and (3) receptive enough to continue thinking about the content of the lecture and building upon it long after the lecture is over.
Generally speaking, one of the most difficult jobs in the world is the noble profession of teaching which by its very nature shapes the character, caliber, and future of individuals. Accordingly, a good teacher is a person who can inspire hope, ignite imagination, and instill a love of learning in the hearts and minds of the learners. As Aristotle once said, “Those who educate children well are more to be honored than they who produce them; for these only gave them life, those the art of living well.”
Being a lecturer goes beyond writing lessons on the board, marking answer scripts and researching. Lecturing is a "calling" of a higher pedestal, because the lecturer holds the future of people of diverse race and creed in his palms. Knowingly or unknowingly, he is a role model to many either in the negative or positive form, depending on which divide he is practicing. That's why we still have students who are trained to plunder and kill, and others who save lives. So, I think a "good lecturer" should just be a father/mother to his/her students. Because, no matter how bad a parent can be, he/she impacts less negativities upon his/her child.
Here is my contribution to the question, a paper based on the research among students: Article The academic as knowledge purveyor: deontological considerations
And here another paper, more theoretical:
Article Criteria for assessment of ethical conduct of academics
In short a teacher will be good once he has up to date knowledge of the subject, involved in research and have good expression power. He must have friendly behavior with the students and demonstrate the subject with models are the experiments if needed time to time.
