I don't really put much value in the ability of popular news to accurately report about science-related content, because I know how often they water down scientific concepts to the point that they contain little to no real substance. The online blog culture (where I've seen "soccer moms" weighing in on matters of advanced neuroscience, and the like) only compounds the problem. So, I'd like to cast this question to those among us here at RG who may be able to offer some professional insight into this question (above). The question itself was prompted by an article I saw linked by a friend of mine.
