Actually, I would like to know the mechanism involve in, when we make the relationship between soil carbon and 'vegetative growth /biomass production'. Discussion on possible mechanism or probable thinking which lead us towards find the answer of this question are most welcome?

Soil carbon is fundamental as a nutrient for microbial development in soil. And microbial activity is fundamental for plant growth. For instance, bacteria are fundamental for nitrogen mineralization and conversion to nitrate and ammonia, which act as a nitrogen source for plant development.
Out of the total pool of carbon in soil, those complex forms, such lignin, celulose are predoinantly degraded by fungi (but also by some bacteria) and then breakdown products from these polymers are used by the rest of the bacterial community.

Thank you so much for your brief answer and your suggestion for reading good linked article. Now I understand, 'the soil carbon is not utilized by plant itself (directly), of-course plant benefited by soil C but indirectly' and also get some idea how soil C helps in carbon sequestration.
