Any recommendation for detection of K3EDTA in aqueous solution? It would be nice to quantify it by photometric (UV-Vis) regression analysis. The compound should have no effect on the pH of the solution. For example, in the case of Iron(II) chloride, the solution will be more acidic and it's a problem.

Thanks, David. Yes for my experiment I need to stick with triPotassium salt. Here they used FeCl3. Won't it decrease the pH of the solution? I want to perform the photometric analysis in an elevated pH in order to have the parallel measurement of another complex which is only soluble in basic condition. I wanted to avoid using buffer since I didn't use it for the previous experiments where I used the 2nd complex but It should not be a big problem I guess.
Once you have settled on a procedure try comparing the method i in your preferred solvent versus a buffered solution Souraj Mandal at the. appropriate pH. If worse comes to worse, Do a calibration curve of the results in the two solvents. I believe that should work. Good Luck, David Booth
