- What is your opinion with regard to recently adopted ambitious EU climate binding target of at least 40% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, compared to 1990 in context of the future investments in coal burning power generation and still costly carbon capture storage (CCS) system ?

80% of global energy consumption is generated from fossil fuels. At the moment production of electricity from coal is profitable since the coal is at historically low price and will continue to be so in the next couple of years.There is no doubt that CO2 capture and storage system requires lots of energy and increases energy consumption, which leads to higher energy prices.It seems that EU sends a clear message that future of coal has to be seen in relation to realization of CCA plants.
