When simulating the response of cardiomyocytes to external stimuli, a excitation pulse of a rectangular waveform with a duration of 0.5 ms is usually used. However, such a pulse duration is not energetically efficient due to a cardiomyocyte response time constant much longer than this duration. Meanwhile, nature seeks to save electricity. Therefore, I would like to know the real parameters of myocyte excitation pulses during the propagation of an excitation wave through the myocardium.
