I'm looking into controlled delivery of VEGF-C via PEG DA hydrogel. I know how to determine the mesh size of the gel but I want to determine the Stokes Radii of VEGF-C.
The Stokes-Einstein radius / hydrodynamic radius "ae" (in Å) is calculated by the formula for globular molecules: ae = 0.483 × (MW)exp0.386 .
For proteins of 21 kDa (mature VEGFC) or 43-61 kDa (immature VEGF-C), the Stokes-Einstein radius varies between 15-31-43 Å depending on its glycosylation status and degree of maturation.
Venturoli D, Rippe B: Ficoll and dextran vs. globular proteins as probes for testing glomerular permselectivity: effects of molecular size, shape, charge, and deformability.
