PLM has been considered as one of the technique of imparting instructions and has been a good source of detailed information (subject matter) about a topic. It has acted as a backbone for the computer assisted instructions but it is not visible in instructions these days. However, this is true that all the principles of PLM are being used in all modern concepts of learning.
I endorse Harshvardhan's comments. I'd like to add that to address the lack of student-teacher interaction, the online programmed learning can include a link to send the automated results to the teacher, so that he/she can provide qualitative feedback to student either online or F2F. This feedback can be done after two or three tries on the test so that the student knows that the teacher is interested in his/her progress and can provide any needed support for specific concepts etc. that are appear challenging to the student.
