sulfanilic acid anhydrous is white crystal powder with the melting point 288℃(begins to decompose).It is easily soluble in ammonia and alkali metal hydroxides base carbonate solution.It is quite easily soluble in hot water,slightly soluble in cold water.But it is insoluble in alcohol,ether or benzene.It is used to detect ammonia ,cerium , nitrite,AL,Mg,Na,I and iodide .
