I think the question is far to broad to hope to gain an adequate answer for. First and foremost, success is understood differently by many people and many organisations. Some measure success by profitability, and by that standard the secret to success would be significant effort and strategy to sell. Some measure success by social benefit, and by that standard the secret would be contributing significantly to social causes and seeing this translate into policy or enhanced individual or group wellbeing.
I would go back and ask what type of success you are after, and once the question is refined, rethink the pathway to that form of success.
