Wharton's jelly of umbilical cord consists of star shaped fibroblasts. The role of these cells needs to be explored. if grown, can they develop into definitive connective tissue cell lineage?
hello mydear Dr.Vashudha kulakarni your presentation is good as ru fell free then share your valuable knowledge with youngsters cum scientist like me who r ready to move ahead.. anyway I'm waiting for your assistance its my CT:8985348529 cum [email protected]..
I am very curious as how conclusions have been made about "fibroblast cells" isolated from the whartons jelly. It is quite well established that mesenchymal stem/stromal cells are isolated from the whartons jelly. Is there a fibroblast/non-mesenchymal stem cell population that you are talking about?
I feel that the fibroblasts in Wharton's jelly could be mesenchymal stem cells, Have you tried to enumerate these? Your answer might help you to get a better reply to your finding..
yes certainly fibroblasts from wharton's jelly belong to mesenchymal lineage. Surprisingly, neural tissue can be grown from these cells by epithelial mesenchymal interaction.
In our facility we isolate mesenchymal stem cells from the Wharton's jelly on a regular basis just by a simple explant method and plastic adherence properties. We characterize them based on positive and negative surface markers and also differentiate them in-vitro into adipogenic, osteogenic and chondrogenic lineages.
We have also differentiated them into the neuronal lineage and also characterized their neuro related secretome.
You can take a look at our publication. You can find it in my publication column.
Please don't call me sir.I am much younger to you.
Ours is a Stem cell company. We conduct clinical trials currently with bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells currently for Critical Limb Ischemia(Buerger's disease),Osteoarthritis,Liver cirrhosis,ICM and Cerebral stroke.Wharton's jelly is our next generation product for therapy.
In what manner would you like to collaborate. If you provide me a few details,I could speak to my superiors and let you know.
