BSA is important for maintenance of MDCK cells during the long time incubation (2-4 days) of plaque assay. Not all versions of commercial BSA can be used as some can interfere with TPCK action. I am not sure if BSA can have additional role in such viral attachment/entry mechanism.
Yes I know, but why it is important, and why some AI viruses can grow with/without BSA and other grow only with BSA?
