I went to the PLAXIS 3D manual and in Tutorial 1, the soil was assumed clay. That means you have shear friction resistance and cohesion as listed in the table of material parameters. Hence, you need to add the effect of cohesion in your equation. Another point is that the traction force in embedded beam element and the soil cohesion were assumed to increase linearly in the Tutorial 1 with the depth of pile. Hence, The the Tskin,start, max value of 200 kN/m and Tskin,end, max value of 500 kN/m. I hope this could help you.

Thank you so much for your reply. I completely understand. The clay given in the tutorial is over-consolidated clay. Hence, it has both the cohesion and angle of friction component. Hence, the skin friction is calculated taking both into account. Unfortunately, I missed that fact in my question. I had taken both the components into account. Just for the information, Cu (undrained cohesion)= 10 kPa and phi=30 degrees.

hence, fs(skin friction resistance/length)(kN/m)= (alpha *Cu +K*effective vertical stress* tan delta)*pi()*diameter of pile

I am not able to get how at the excavated ground surface or pile top, this skin friction resistance/length becomes 200 kN/m?

The best way is to calculate Tskin by hand then insert into Plaxis 3D. I do this approach.
