I have added some PAC to 20% alum solution and a white sediment was formed. any idea what is that sediment?
Maybe Al(OH)3(s) flocs.
Both of them, alum and Poylaluminum Chloride (PACl), are highly sensitive to pH.
Verify the Pourbaix diagram (Al = f(pH)) for Al, you will learn somethings.
Instead of alum, think to use iron salts (Fe2(SO4)3) wich are relatively considered as green coagulants.

flocks of aluminium hydroxide,which are sticky in nature forms settlable lumps with entrapment by gluing and adsorption for removal of turbidity and some chemical contaminants compound like fluoride.......but commercially available PAC is containing toxic elements like Hg...it's not pure PAC....
