I consider that the "sense of depersonalization" ( Holmes E.A., ) is a certain fantasy-proneness ( Wilson , S.C., and Barber,T.X.,) of the patient.
There are reports of immersing in imagination and patient awareness as a subjective symptom. Probably, after that they remember these conditions.
This condition (immersing in imagination) is also observed in persons in good health. (eg ; In school hours or at working , we sometimes imagine some different things). Are we to explain this condition as “daydream?”
What is difference and border between patients and persons in good health?
And this is a complaint about " sense of depersonalization ", of certain patient with the diagnosis provisionally dissociative disorder. She says that " I am aware that, my abilities increase. In language skill, in cognitive of spatial, in carrying out work ." And she begins to have a moment of a loss of feeling of self-reality. She could not comprehend her own condition. Because of the gap which occurred from comparing which showed new ability and past ability.
Therefore, she was driven by impulse to cut her left arm (not wrist) to get feeling pain and to feel reality. I think that, this case is also " sense of depersonalization."
Are there some reports of similar cases? And I want to reference specialist’s knowledge and opinion.

Abstract
Dissociation involves a variety of clinical concepts, and some disorders are also similar to but not the same as dissociation. Dissociative disorder is considered to be a pathological phenomenon based on a psychological mechanism. Accurate diagnosis is very important to ensure that patients receive adequate treatment, although such consideration is not unique to dissociative disorder. Accordingly, there is a need to carefully distinguish dissociation from other disorders. In this article, we outline a number of dissociative and dissociative-like states from the symptoms of amnesia, depersonalization and switching. In particular, we highlight the differences between transient global amnesia and dissociative amnesia, and imaginary companions and dissociative alter personality. Additionally, as the symptoms of conditions such as dissociative amnesia and dissociative identity disorder are easily confused, we also made efforts to organize them.

Dr.Koereki A is one of the famous specialist of dissociative disorders in Japan. And I know also Ashikaga Red Cross Hospital very well.
I think that he is researching the border between of dissociative disorder and schizophrenia mainly.
However the problem is that I can not eligible to join the Society of Psychiatry and Neurology of Japan such as this. (This is because I do not have a national medical license) And I cannot also be purchasing the any papers of Society of Japan such like this.

I don't know to what extend European and Japanese psychiatric schools differ, but
I just wanted to add that "self-disorders" (ger. "Ich-störungen") have been within the focus of schizophrenia research since the first introduction of the term by Bleuler.
These phenomena are, in fact, in the center of Schneider's first-rank symptoms (modern criteria for schizophrenia [at least, in ICD-10 and DSM-IV // but removed from DSM-V] are largely based on them). But it is true that these phenomena can be seen in other psychiatric and neurological conditions (e.g. temporal lobe epilepsy aura). Interestingly (if you "buy" criteria-based definition of a psychiatric nosology as a group of co-occurring symptoms implemented in today's classifications), the authors of DSM-V suggest that these symptoms are even more common in patients with dissociative identity disorder than in schizophrenia (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21910187). But I cannot comment on this, as I haven't seen that many patients with DID myself. Anyhow... Biologically speaking, one would expect similar brain mechanisms to be involved in the "ego-disorders" across different psychiatric and neurological diseases.
But if you are primarily interested in phenomenology (not "psychological explanations", which I personally believe are quite controversial) - then probably the best clinical descriptions of these phenomena can be found in General Psychopathology (by Karl Jaspers):
