Does optical conductivity had any relation with energy gap? Whether it depend upon type of material also?

The smaller the energy band gap (EBG)between HOMO and LUMO in an active polymer ,i.e., PEDOT:PSS, the higher the conductivity of the polymer. It is just like in a conductive metal, the EBG is between the conductive band & the Valence Band , EBG
