Young folks turn to be intelligent than older folks.This is because as a person grows he drop in agility; hence, his ability to thinking quickly and act with respect to decision making may happen at a slower pace.
With advancement of age above 35-40, people start to reduce the power to learn new things.
But the experience they gathered is of tremendous importance.
It can show new ways and identify probable mistakes of young people.

I find younger researchers tend to believe more strongly in what their superiors tell them. Is that true? It is after all only my experience.
They experience less doubt in perceived wisdom.
As people become older, the quest to learn new things tend to reduce but the experience tend to increase while reverse is the case for the youth
I think the problem is not intelligence, but memory, in old age weak memory and less efficient neurotransmitters, which negatively affects intelligence
