Why the flame of gas welding exhibit different colors at different conditions? I want to know the reason to exhibit the colors, for example: generally in case of the neutral flame, the color of the inner cone is white while same of the outer cone is bluish.
Similarly, some variation can be observed in the color of the flame while using carburizing or oxidizing flame.

The flame colour is an indication of flame temperature, which is a function of the ratio of the fuel gas and oxygen. In carburising flame, as the acetylene ratio is higher so complete combustion does not take place hence, yellow flame. Furthermore, complete combustion takes place in an oxidising flame. The colours of the flame are also indicative of the wavelength. Yellow has a higher wavelength (hence low energy, also low flame temperature) compared to blue (shorter wavelength, also high flame temperature). However, please note that white colour is a mixture of various colours hence particular wavelength is generally not associated.
