I am working on double chamber MFC,after 10 days runing of experiment suddenly some of banch s voltage increase instead of decrease,I’m really looking to find out the reason.
The reason for voltage reversal may be due to fuel starvation, resulting in the loss of bacterial activity. The rapid feeding of a cell may store positive voltage generation.

It quite depends on which kind of substrate you are using and also the working condition of your reactor. Is the reactor in startup period? if so, it is normal, as the adaption of bacteria to the working environment and formation of exoelectrogenic biofilm needssome time. In general, if you leave the reactor running for another 5-10 days, you should obsever a decrease of current again.

It is normal if you are in start up period. adaptation of bacteria to the feed is the reason for increasing the voltage.
