I have whole rock mantle peridotite (harzburgite and dunite) analyse results (ICP-ES) from ACME (Canada) and Academia Sinica (Taiwan). There are three samples problematic for me. I need to explain why these sample's Al2O3 (2.69-3.91 %wt.) contents are high but CaO contents (0.12-0.14) are low... What reason could increase Al2O3 and/or decrease CaO content?
Besides, Cr2O3 contents (4.5-6.3 %wt.) of these peridotites are also high than others. But compared to other samples, there is no significant difference in terms of the Al2O3 content of spinel (by mineral chemistry-EPMA).
How can the scenario be interpreted in this case?
Thanks in advance.
