I think using Microsoft Project is essential for learning project management.
The main difference between teaching Project Management for any learner is the learning outputs, the object of learning this subject for computer science students is the technical side, while the teaching this object of information science student is focus in obtaining information for decision making.

I recommend to combine both 1) project management theory, 2) practical case study throughout the course and 3) IT-support for project management. For the theory, I think it is important to make students aware of norms (e.g. ISO, ANSI) and standards (e.g. PMBOK Guide, ICB IPMA, APM, PRINCE2, Open PM2) as well as of those dedicated to agile approaches (e.g. SCRUM, or agile ammendmends of PMBOK, PRINCE2 or OpenPM2). English Books I would recommend are Rodney Turner "Gower handbook of project management" in serveral editions amd if applicable Michel Thiry "Program Management".
I would also recommend consulting research findings from following journals (e.g. International Journal of Project Management, Project Management Journal,
International Journal of Managing Projects in Business, Baltic Journal of Management).
There are plenty of software solutions for supporting project management, as Bassam abdalrahman Youzbaky mentioned MS Project, but also other systems that have a different level of customization, cost and usability. In a current international project we work f.ex. with Teamwork Projects and with Projektron BCS.
I would also address challenges in working with virtual teams, on knowledge management in projects and intercultural work as this relates to most workplaces nowadays in my point of view.

Hope students knew the concept about basics of software engineering before they start with SPM. In the beginning of course itself we can initiate project work to carry on SPM tools for real time problem. instruct them to write a case study by listing complete stuffs that provides planning insight then start working with tools. Plenty of open source tools available .
As Susanne mam mentioned more of virtual works is up in industry and certainly mainly tools have already built in feature of all the latest technology.
When providing with real time flavor , it will be interesting. Need to review it actively.
Towards end effective talk from industrial expert will add value to it.
