The m6A (N6-Methyladenosine) modification on RNA has a RRACH motif, so what about the 6mA (N6-Methyladenine) modification on DNA? Is there any specific sequence found though mapping its distribution on genome?
It depends on whether there is a corresponding enzyme that performs N6-methylation of DNA. Is there? I do not know at the top of my head. But if there is, then it would have been known by now (I would guess) whether N6-methylated DNA would have or not the RRACH motif. HTH.
Thanks for your time. New data now find 6mA DNA modification in green alga, worm, fly and mammalian ES cells, which added by varies enzymes. Its a pity I have no idea about the recognition motif.
