Traditional H &E stain, Lendrum’s Method of Picro-Mallory Stain and also the stains you mentioned above all stain  acidophillic fibrin (stains pink with H& E), However the definitive identification of  fibrin by histochemical methods depends upon coexisting   tissue features such as  infammation, necrosis.  Therefore fibrin identification in tissues is more a subjective interpretation. The presence fibrin alone exclusively without any other tissue/ cellular elements or pathology is almost unimaginable.

You can use Mason trichome or silver stain, both work well.

In the past i've looked at Carstair's and MSB, and MSB seemed to provide better results. However these stains do require some experience on the part of the histotechs, since they can easily be over/understained or have inadequate differentiation. There may also be some staining variability according to whether the fibrin is newly deposited or mature. I think that if you have the means to develop IHC staining, it would probably be better, as it would likely have less potential for giving ambiguous results.

Massons Trichrome also works well.However,IHC staining would be more confirmatory.

I want to stain fibrin in blood vessels  in Cerebral malaria patients to see their deposit & that is early deposit. Can any one advise a IHC stain for this?
