China is the world's top nation in publishing articles in the high impact Journal, and America and India are second and third countries. there are many journal articles are being published on a daily basis, but do not using it for purposeful applications. Only their are kept in paper and they are published only for getting PhD or for enhancing academic records. What is solution for it? Because research is a major contribution to the development of any country. We should focus on quality and not the quantity.

Chhotelal - yes - quality is the important factor. However, that may vary in different parts of the world. Most PhD examiners from Institutions in countries where I have lived and worked i.e. UK, New Zealand and Australia will evaluate the PhD against established quality criteria. That would include any publication included as evidence to support and/or part of the thesis. Some examiners, however, may be more 'impressed' with quantity and not know too much about the quality of the articles. That is less likely to occur - and more likely to occur in other parts of the world where 'any' publication, regardless of quality, is seen as a positive.
Definitely it's quality. But quite number of quality publications only make the research to its height.

I agree with the discussion that quality is the main goal, but there are thousands of important papers that contribute to the basic knowledge and have no application. Does that mean they are not important and we need to get rid of them?
Certainly, their main role is to give basic knowledge and to explore more of the basic theory and concept. But this ratio is very low. And since many years basic principles have not changed. Yes, some new areas of science have developed a new concept, but this does not mean that there is any role play for science, innovation, and education.
Ideally for any research article the quality is more important.It should contribute some new factors to the already existing research.Although the universities do list a word limit for the same.
