Dear friends,
My research topic is "Dye degradation or colour removal using constructed wetland technology (a biological treatment system)". I am using a reactive azo dye (Reactive Yellow 145, RY145) for my experimental studies. As per literature, decolourization or degradation of azo dye by microorganisms starts with reductive cleavage of azo bond under anaerobic conditions. Although, this step leads to decolourization of dye and generates amines of the dye related structures that are not degraded under anaerobic conditions. However, such amines are reported to be biotransformed under aerobic conditions. Both anaerobic and aerobic conditions are coexisting in my wetland reactor. As part of my thesis work, I wanted to predict the possible dye degradation products (intermediate compounds). Kindly help me in this regard. I am attaching herewith the structure of the RY145 dye.
