I conducted an experiment in rice under five pH (4,5,6,7,8) levels and various Cd levels. In my experiment I got high Cd content in shoots and roots at pH 6. Other pH levels showed lower Cd content in rice roots and shoots as compared to pH 6.
Can anybody tell me what is the mechanism behind it? that when pH increased, Cd decreased. when pH decreased, Cd decreased too. but high Cd was found at middle pH level which is 6.

@ Umed, adsorption of Cd always suppressed with acidification (at low pH) due to increased competition with hydrogen ion and alkalinity (at high pH) due to competition with hydroxyl ions. Cadmium also always decreased with the increase in the ionic strength.

Dear Dr. Exactly, I also thought about that, but I need an evidence of that to prove my results in discussion. As I have already written that at low pH (3.5 and 5.0) Cd concentration in roots and shoots decreased. High pH Levels (7.0 and 8.0) also lowered the Cd concentration in plant parts. Only pH 6.0 (which is also acidic pH) has high concentrations of Cd in rice roots and shoots.
I need to prove the mechanism about this in the discussion section.

According to your explanation, I think its chemical properties , Cd react with acids and produce its relatives salt, Cd react to Sulphuric acid, hydrochloric acid and all other acids, so its accumulation is more in acidic pH.
