I read a article about metallic incorrosion (mild steel) by using new generations of phosphate based on anticorrosion pigments. This article have mentioned the modified pigments appeared to release many inhibiting species. This may increase the chance of precipitation of a protective layer on the surface. But I don't know mechanism of inhibiting ions. Why it can increase the chance of precipitaion of protective layer on the surface.
