If we do not use any linker on the surface of Fe3O4, What will be the mechanism of coating of Fe3O4 with Poly-vinyl-pyrrolidone(PVP). Specifically which bond (-N or C=O) in PVP will take part in mechanism of PVP grafted Fe3O4. I would be very happy if you please explain the facts.

And In this mechanism the surface of Fe3O4 was first coated with 3-(trimethoxysilyl) propyl methacrylate (silane A) to introduce a reactive vinyl groups onto the surface and then PVP was grafted onto the surface of modified Fe3O4. Ok I underatood it.
I wanted to say, is it possible to coat without the modification of the surface of Fe3O4 ? Then what should be the reaction conditios or procedure?
There are C=O bonds at PVP, may be this C=O can make covalent bond by donating electrons to the empty d-orbital of the metal(Fe). If this happend, then we will find a single bond C-O vibration instead of C=O vibration. I'm just thinking. Is it possible? what should be the reaction condition?

The polymerization initiator activated vinyl group. See Fig.. Carbonyl group is not altered.
