Read journals whereby some species (i.e., zygotic embryos of A. belladonna and somatic embryos of B. gasipaes) have viable cells showing numerous mitochondria after exposure to a vitrification solution (dehydration) whereas tomato cells (shoot apex) after dehydration mitochondria were less abundant, while plastids with starch grains were numerous.
Does less abundant of mitochondria indicates that the metabolic activities in the tomato cells are slowing down?
Thanks!
